2 Corinthians 12:9 says,"But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."
My prayer for this blog is that my posts will not be an example of someone fallible. Instead, I pray that the words written will be the words of Christ, through a ready and willing vessel.
Why call this blog, "Reaching for Eternity?" While I was praying about whether this was really something the Lord wanted me to do, I asked Him to show me what to call it. Since I didn't want this blog to be about me, I needed a title that truly reflected that truth. About a week ago, I was reading an article called, "Two Minutes to Eternity." It was written by a young mother who was experiencing great hardship. After questioning God as to why He had allowed such a difficult trial, she came to a conclusion that I believe all Christians need to remember.
"He didn't create Toby to live two minutes or Mandy to live two years. He didn't create me to live 40 years (or whatever number he may choose to extend my days in this world). God created Toby for eternity. He created each of us for eternity, where we may be surprised to find our true calling, which always seemed just out of reach here on earth."
As Christians, we need to remember that the world is not our home. Our home is with God, in Heaven, where we will be for all of eternity. And we need to live with that perspective in mind. So I hope that every post on this blog will serve as a reminder that we need to always be reaching towards eternity and seeking after Jesus.
